Written in Red by Anne Bishop is a fantastic start to her newest series (Novels of the Others (or possibly just The Others)).  Bishop is one of the few adult writers whose works I just flat out adore. Thankfully, this book was just as amazing as her others.  Meg Corbyn applies for a job at the Courtyard (a place where all the creatures that are not human are forced to live). Simon Wolfgard is the leader of the Courtyard and a Wolf. He doesn't exactly trust Meg, but he doesn't have a lot of other options.  I don't want to spoil anything but it's amazing. It is an adult book, so I'll put a few trigger warnings at the end of this review under a spoilers tag.  I would recommend this book to anyone who likes fantasy novels. ~ * ~ * SPOILERS * ~ * ~ Trigger Warnings for: Rape Mentions, Cutting, Death
Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Jandy Nelson's I'll Give You the Sun  might be the best book I've read this year, and I've read some damn good books in the last ten months. Within the first ten pages, I knew I was going to love this book. Noah is an incredible character (as is Jude, but the first chapter is from Noah's POV). Alternating POVs can be tricky, but Nelson excels at distinguishing the two characters in this book. The story alternates between the views of twins Noah at age 13 (going on to 14) and Jude at 16. The twins used to be super close but during Noah's time they're beginning to fall apart. By Jude's time, they barely even talk to each other. I'll Give You the Sun  is about trust and love and betrayal and knowing exactly what you want to do with your life and not being able to do it. But ohmygosh is it about love. It's about love in every expression: sibling love and parental love and love when you don't want it ...

STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND FIND A COPY OF THIS BOOK. RIGHT NOW.

I AM DEAD SERIOUS. STOP READING THIS. STOP IT. GO FIND A COPY OF THIS BOOK. AND IF YOU FIND A COPY OF THIS ONE, GRAB THE SECOND AND THIRD WHILE YOU'RE AT IT. YOU WANT MORE INFORMATION?!?! FINE. I haven't felt this fanatic about a book series since I read The Hunger Games three or four years ago. The Knife of Never Letting Go is the first book in the Chaos Walking series. I had heard of it from someone I follow on another website--she mentioned it was her favorite book and since I think she has good taste, I put it on reserve at my work. If we saw a copy, I would grab it and read it. Instead, John Green and Maureen Johnson tweeted links to a free download of it on Wednesday morning. I'm not particularly fond of ebooks because the only device I can really use is my phone (I get too distracted on my computer to read ebooks). I downloaded it anyway. I read quite a bit of it, but then I ran some errands and generally tried to be productive. I kept thinking about it. ...
